Great visit to Haugalandet
The school ship Sørlandet is in maintenance and the next step is the repair of the hull. The Foundation has made an agreement with Storesund Marine Service AS for extensive works on the ship.
This is part of the required 5-year classification that will provide renewed certificates and as well as an upgrade of the 93-year-old ship. Together with Bredalsholmen shipyard and vessel protection centre and Dåfjorden Slippp, Storesund Marine Service will repair large parts of the hull and other methods according to old methods. SØRLANDET has a higher protected status than the other tall ships we have in Norway and therefore old riveting should be retained or replaced according to the old method. The work is time-consuming and we expect the ship to remain in the dock for the next three months," says Director Knut Arne Gjertsen.
