" Sørlandet " offers trips to and from Aalborg Regatta 2021

" Sørlandet " offers tours to Aalborg Regatta 2021 next summer

It's nice beeing a Norwegian in Denmark.

This summer, The Fullrigger Sørlandet plans to invite on sailing expedition from Kristiansand to Aalborg. Departure in the morning of 15 June with arrival at Aalborg on the afternoon of 17 June. Aalborg Regatta is already underway and you can experience:

• Free concerts every day at the harbour quay and on the Limfjord. • P1 Freestyle Jet ski Show • North Sea Oceanarium's roadshow • March and tattoo at Søværnets Tamburkorps • Maritime playland for the little ones • Sailing trips with Rib Action • Helicopter rescue operation on the Limfjord • Fisheries by the Danish Anglers Association• Open Ship on the participating ships • Food Courts • Diverse stands with activities from maritime associations, educational and cultural institutions • Fireworks show

The school ship Sørlandet is at the "Bredalsholmen dokk og fartøyvernsenter" (BDF) shipyard in Kristiansand and will undergo hull repairs, get a new main deck, overhaul the rig, and much more. The shipyard period is scheduled to last from May 20, 2024 to August 25, 2024. The new school year on board begins on August 31, 2024, by which time the ship must be ready. The project is estimated to cost between NOK 32 million and NOK 34 million, depending on whether there are any works that have not been included in the plans. These works are necessary to renew the sailing permits for five more years and be ready to be one of the main attractions during Tall Ships Races Kristiansand 2025. Gold of the forest to pride of the sea - Over one hundred year old pine gets new life at Sørlandet

When the Norwegian The Ship Sørlandet needed a new ship's deck, a very special material was found in the forests around Elverum. The centuries-old pine forest there contains trees with a core of naturally impregnated wood, perfect for withstanding the marine environment. This "gold timber", as it was called, is the result of several generations of forestry and natural growing conditions.
