SØRLANDET has casted off from Bermuda

Sørlandet has been corona-stuck in Bermuda since March 13. After just over a month, the course home is now set.

On Saturday 18 April, the quarantine period was complete and a crew change was made. Then the ropes were cast off and the ship could slide out of port and set sail towards northern latitudes.

Both students and crew have been looking forward to the Atlantic voyage, which will take around four weeks if there is good wind and good sailing weather.

Sørlandet has set course directly for Kristiansand, with the possibility of a stop in the Azores if bunkers and supplies need to be replenished.

After 24 hours in the sea, she keeps good speed at 8.8 knots. With a lot of growing on the hull after almost a full school year at sea, we must say it's a good cruising speed.

On board there are now 53 students, a school staff of 5 and a crew of 12. Students can conduct self-study if they want to improve their grades, otherwise they also have sea watches.
