The school ship Sørlandet this fall
With the sails hoisted and the course set, Sørlandet into an autumn marked by development and renewal. The 2025/26 school year is well underway with 72 students on board, and both teaching and the organization are taking important steps forward. From new ports to new approaches in pedagogy and brand building – the autumn marks a clear crossroads for A+ World Academy and the Foundation The Ship Sørlandet .
The 2025–26 school year is well under way, and 72 students from A+ World Academy are on board Sørlandet Since departing from Kristiansand, the students have visited Lerwick (Shetland), Dublin (Ireland), Saint-Malo (France) and Vigo (Spain). Now they are heading to Madeira – and for the rest of the year the ship will visit Seville, Las Palmas and Cape Verde.

This fall we have introduced two important changes to the program:
Teacher rotation scheme – This provides a more sustainable teaching environment and strengthens students' learning outcomes.
Greater responsibility for students – We have acknowledged that our care has sometimes left students helpless. Now we are giving them the space to take more responsibility for themselves and their tasks. After a recent visit on board, we see clear signs that both of these goals are within reach.
In addition, we have conducted a new round of awareness survey, and the results show a clear improvement. There is little doubt that our presence in Agder this summer, combined with participation in the Tall Ships Races in Kristiansand, has had a positive impact.
As a consequence of this, we are now taking a closer look at how the business appears in Agder. We are considering, among other things, the brand, and how it can better communicate who we are and what we do – both regionally and nationally.
Finally, the time for budgeting for 2026 is approaching. The budget will be adopted at the board meeting in December, and work is already underway.
