The school ships contribute to PM's birthday gift
Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister Erna Solberg receives a special 60th birthday present from her own party: At least 20 young people who are outside school or work will be given a place on the school ships' voyage .
The party pays for 20 young people who do not have a job or go to school to get a place on the cruises of the school ships Christian Radich, Statsraad Lehmkuhl and Sørlandet .
"I have a commitment to the sailing ships. You get that when you come from Bergen and the Statsraaden is located right in the city center. The other thing that is important to me is that young people get a second chance," Solberg told vg.no.
"This makes me happy and proud on behalf of both the ship and the youth," says Knut Arne Gjertsen, director of the Foundation. This is the perfect way for the traditions of the ship to be brought into our time," he continues. For nearly a hundred years, she has created pride and identity, made young people adults, and taught youth of all ages that through effort and collaboration we can achieve the most distant goals.
