From theory to practice – A+ World Academy sets sail!
After a few weeks of sailing along the Norwegian coast and across the North Sea, the students at A+ World Academy have really started to find their rhythm on board the school ship. Sørlandet .
They started in quiet conditions outside Kristiansand, where sails were set, rigging was climbed, and routines were established. With each passing day, the students have grown – both as sailors and as fellow human beings. From watchmen and safety rounds to braising and cleaning – it’s all about building self-confidence and community.
🌬️ The North Sea welcomed them with rain, wind and waves – a perfect arena to test their sea legs and character. Nevertheless, spirits have been high, and the learning curve has been steep.
⚓ After a successful crossing, they anchored at the Orkney Islands, where the scenery and tranquility provided a long-awaited respite before setting sail for Shetland and Lerwick.
📚 Now that classes have started, the teachers have taken over the baton. One thing is for sure: The students have already learned more than many do in an entire year – about cooperation, perseverance and life at sea.
We look forward to the continuation – the next stop after Lerwick: Dublin!
