A day filled with emotions in Las Palmas!

Sørlandet has arrived in Las Palmas where there are parent meetings and autumn holidays

🌊Today I had the pleasure of receiving Sørlandet after three months at sea. It was almost like May 17th on the dock – parents with Norwegian flags, longing looks and big smiles when they finally got to meet their young people again.

The students have sailed, learned and grown through challenges and experiences that few get to experience. Seeing the joy and pride in the meeting between parents and children was powerful – many emotions and much warmth in the Canarian sun. ❤️

For me, this is not just about a school and a ship. It is about preserving the world's oldest sailing full-rigged ship in active service – a living cultural monument that gives young people a unique education and life experience. This is what makes Sørlandet very special.

Now parents' meetings and a long-awaited autumn holiday await before the next leg: Cape Verde and then the young people's first Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean. 🌍⛵
