We are looking for a permanent sailor from July 13, 2026.

The Ship Sørlandet is the world's oldest sailing full-rigged ship and an important cultural monument. The ship is operated by the Foundation The Ship Sørlandet and is used for both adventure-based sailing and education. Through the A+ World Academy, the ship is an international school arena, where students combine schooling with practical learning and personal development at sea.

As a sailor with us, you will work in a demanding and varied sailing ship environment with high professional requirements. The position involves responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the ship, as well as active follow-up of students and young people on board. You must therefore thrive in an environment that combines maritime operations with learning, safety and development for young people.

The Foundation The Ship Sørlandet aims to be a professional and preferred provider of sailing experiences and maritime education, both nationally and internationally. We place great emphasis on collaboration, safety and quality at all levels.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Valid basic safety course (IMO50)
• Crisis and passenger management course
• Valid health certificate
• Bridge guard certificate
• Experience from sailing ships, minimum as an easy seaman/sailor
• Good written and oral English skills

There is an advantage with:

• Other relevant qualifications, such as a certificate in maritime or related fields

Personal characteristics:

• Good pedagogical and social skills, with the ability to guide and follow up on young people
• Collaborative and clear in communication
• Confident and responsible in demanding situations

Other:

• The position is covered by the tariff (NOR agreement + special agreement for sailing ships)
• A valid certificate of good conduct for working with youth is a requirement.
