We are looking for a committed and energetic operations manager who will help further develop the activities surrounding our Norwegian sailing ships, while preserving and continuing a unique cultural heritage in a modern context.
About the position
The operations manager has overall responsibility for the operation and staffing of the training ship. Sørlandet - the world's oldest full rig in active operation. The ship will be 100 years old in 2027. The position reports to the director and is part of a joint management group consisting of the director, technical director, financial director, marketing director, operations director and school director. The office is in Kristiansand.
The operations manager has close collaboration with the subsidiary A+ World Academy, and collaborates particularly closely with the school manager.
The foundations The Ship Sørlandet and Christian Radich have a strategic collaboration, where sharing resources and expertise contributes to the best possible operation of the businesses.
Main responsibility
As Operations Manager, you will have broad and operational responsibilities, including:
Overall responsibility for operation, staffing, follow-up and maintenance of the sailing ship
Personnel responsibility for the crew
- Planning and coordination of sailing programs and port stays
- Ensure continuous improvement and follow-up of deviations according to established standards
- Overall responsibility for insurance (ship, crew, trainees , passengers and guests)
- Functional responsibility for ISM, ISPS and certificates
- Responsibility for government contact within the operations' areas of responsibility
- Follow-up of certifications (crew, radio, telephony and safety equipment)
- Emergency response responsibility
- HSE responsibility and systematic follow-up
- Responsibility for suppliers and purchasing agreements
- Customer and assignment follow-up
- Collaboration with A+ World Academy

Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- Relevant experience, preferably as an operations manager, technical inspector, fleet manager or captain
- Documented leadership experience
- Experience with purchasing and negotiations
- Preferably higher education combined with solid experience from ship operations
- Interest in – and preferably experience with – sailing ships or historic vessels
